“Someone once told me not to bite off more than I can chew. I told them I would rather choke on greatness than nibble on mediocrity.” – Unknown
Sometimes our dreams our closer than we think. It is not doing the work it takes to get to those dreams that can slow us down. There are so many things on my bucket list, but I haven’t gotten around to making any of them happen. I’ve given excuse after excuse as to why I shouldn’t do the work or put in the effort. How will we ever get to our dreams if we don’t do the work?
The truth is – we can’t. The work pile continues to grow the longer we sit around avoiding it and not putting in the necessary effort. So long as we are avoiding greatness we are wading in the pool of mediocrity. We aren’t doing the best we can.
Why not put our best foot forward? Why should we let setbacks set us back for longer than anticipated? If that does happen we should get back up as quickly as we can.
It’s hard to do work. It’s hard to be motivated to do work, but without the work we find ourselves still reaching for our dreams. We need to aspire to be better, greater, and more efficient, and we must do it with a smile on our faces.
We are much closer to our dreams than we will ever believe. We just have to put in the time to do the work to see that we are ready to bask in greatness and glory instead of mediocrity.
