“I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.” – Louisa May Alcott
There are some things that change our lives forever whether it be an event, a person, or a shift in perspective. We learn a lot of lessons as we grow up and there are so many previous experiences that help shape us into who we are. What are some of our defining moments?
I hate talking about high school, and even most-often dreaded middle school, but there is so much growth that happens during those times. We are trying to figure out who we are and struggling to find ourselves. We experience the most growth and are constantly challenged.
Most teens get bullied around this age and everyone starts to learn that it’s easy to be mean to people and for no reason. Teenagers are awful. They say so many hurtful things and sometimes may not even realize the effect of what they’re saying. All of the pain we experience from other people who learn that the power they receive through negativity helps us grow in some way. The people who use negativity and belittle others to feel better about themselves are moments that can define them forever.
We all eventually grow up and grow out of phases even though it takes some of us longer than others. We should want to be remembered as the positive person who had an impact on another person instead of the negative person who created pain and hurt in someone’s daily life. These moments define us.
