“I think it’s time for another beach trip.” – Unknown
Newport Beach was amazing and beautiful. I felt like I was in a different world the whole time I was there. I may be close to the beach where I live, but this place was like no other. Here’s what happened on my adventure:
My trip Newport and Laguna Beach Trip was such an experience. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the details about Newport are on their way. You’ll get all of them today!
We started the day off kind of slow since I was still trying to take it easy with my cold. My best friend and I went to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch, which is something I can enjoy at home, but it had a view. I doubt the view of the parking lot in The Valley is better than the view of the beach, but that’s just my personal opinion. 😉
The food was great though we opted not to get cheesecake. Apparently a Balboa Bar was waiting for me on Marine Street. We walked around Fashion Island, which was an incredibly gorgeous outdoor mall. We took pictures and saw the most adorable little pup.
Once we were done there, we spent a while (and I mean a while) trying to find a parking spot on or near Marine Street so we could take the ferry across the harbor to make it to our whale watching cruise. I almost found a spot, but was way too close to a red zone and decided that I didn’t want to get a ticket from a cop who was ready to ruin my day for being a centimeter too close to the red line. I also wasn’t ready to box the car behind me in. Eventually we found a parking lot on the other side of the island without having to take the ferry, but that was incredibly small and not cheap. We had no more options so we settled.
We had to check in for whale watching and while we were waiting I tried a Balboa Bar which is basically vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate and whatever toppings you want. It was great for my sore throat – I wish I would’ve gotten a picture of it though!
Whale watching was great when we cruised out of the harbor and were moving with the waves in the Pacific Ocean. It was hard to get pictures of the whales and dolphins without falling off the boat. I had to hold on to something the whole time without losing my camera or myself.
The way back I was a mess. All of the sudden I was nauseous and was extremely close to throwing up, but I managed to compose myself. My best friend said I didn’t look well and she was ready to shove nausea medication down my throat. I was hanging on by a thread and was so relieved when we were finally back in the harbor. I think I was ready for dinner more than anything. We went to Sharky’s and I couldn’t have been happier to be on land and eating good food.
The rest of the night we spent laughing, talking, and more catching up. It was a great day and I was looking forward to the next day…and to feeling better!
