“Sometimes a break from your routine is the very thing you need.” – Unknown
Blogging has been absolutely wonderful for me. It has gotten me to consistently write each week and use my camera more, and through this I’ve learned how to take better pictures and discovered my voice and style. There are so many great things it’s done for me including changing my perspective.
But I need a break now. The main goals of this blog were to:
- Focus on the positive
- Write at least 3 blog posts a week paired with a picture
- Become a habitual writer
- Become more confident in my writing
I can proudly say I’ve accomplished those 4 and so much more. I wanted this blog to give me the chance to show my writing to other people instead of keeping it hidden. What good is a blog if you’re only blogging to yourself? I started on Tumblr and was blogging for myself. I didn’t care how many followers I had or if anyone was my reading my stuff. I cared about posting my writing on a blogging platform so people could have the opportunity to see it. Best of all, I moved my blog to WordPress – a goal I was waiting to accomplish since the beginning of college.
I owe my thanks to all of the support I received from my fellow bloggers, friends, and family. But I also owe myself some thanks too. This wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t take a risk and put myself out there. It was my desire to write and become a disciplined writer as well as wanting to use my camera more that got me to focus on this blog. I found a part of myself through this and I cannot be more proud of myself for that. I took a huge step and now it’s time to focus on something else for a while. Routine is boring – I accomplished my tasks and it’s time to see if I can swim after all this learning.
Though I may pop in for a blog post or two every month, I think my regular blogging must come to a pause for now. When I come back, I hope to have a full novel close to publication; my writing efforts need to be focused in between those pages.
Remember to always follow your dreams and do what you need to do for yourself. You come first. I’ll miss you all until I return. Happy blogging. 🙂
