Self-Love

“Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first.” – Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

Yesterday morning, one of my friends texted me and asked me if I wanted to do a rainy day photo shoot. We both needed to get out of the house and I love the rain so I had no objections. I immediately said yes and got ready. Mary found some locations and we winged most of it, but it was the best experience I’ve had in a while.

With my clear umbrella, Love Your Melon beanie, brown boots, and coat, I was ready for some photos. Being out in the rain made me feel so free. I’ve felt locked up with cabin fever over the holidays and have needed something to do. I knew I was lucky to have a friend like Mary. We went from outdoor locations filled with trees to a lustrous, lamp store to coffee shops. It was spontaneous. It was fun. And best of all, it got me out of the house and back into the world.

I felt good about myself seeing the photo previews on her camera. I forgot what self-love felt like until yesterday. It was like a rebirth in the rain. I was reminded that the most important things are self-love and self-care: I always come first.
