Fall is Here!

Apple Weather Candle & Fall Decor

I may have decorated the house a few weeks ago to kick off fall a little early, but I’m so happy that today officially marks the first day of fall. The scents, the season, and pumpkin-flavored everything is giving me the energy I’ve needed since the reality of quarantine sunk in a couple of months ago.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I really do love them all, but fall and winter are my top two favorites because it means the start of the holidays and the excitement of another year approaching.

This year, fall happens to be incredibly exciting because it’s helping me break out of what feels so ordinary. The thought of working from home has always lingered in the back of my head, and I’ve always wondered if it was something I could do full time. My answer to any questions about wanting to work from home in the future is a big “no.” It’s something nice to do a couple times a week, but I need to be around people, collaborating, and in a different environment, so that home feels more like the haven it’s supposed to be.

So when fall was around the corner, I needed to do something that made being at home all the time feel less normal from what quickly became our new normal. The fall colors are beautiful and the scents are something I look forward to every year. I whipped out my fall wreath and pumpkins, bought some fall-scented candles (Apple Weather from Bath & Body Works is amazing), and stopped at Michael’s to get some more décor because it made our living room vibrant.

Being at home all day has its pros and cons, but sometimes it gets tough to be in the same environment for so long and see no changes, especially when we can’t spend time around friends like we used to.

Fall is all about change; it’s one of the main symbols of the season. That’s why it was so important for me to decorate the house and add something new for a while. It made such a difference. What are some things you’re doing for fall?

I will say I’m not a big PSL fan. In fact, I don’t know that I’ve officially ever had one from what I can remember, but some of my favorite things about fall are:

  1. Candles 🕯
    • Actually, I just opened a tab on my browser to add more to my cart because I go through them way too fast. 🤭 You can’t go wrong with a 3-wick candle from Bath & Body Works.
  2. Pumpkin Treats 🎃
    • Pumpkin bread, pumpkin butter, pumpkin cookies…you really can’t embrace fall without them.
  3. Leaves 🍂
    • It’s still pretty hot in Southern California, but we live in an area with twice the amount of trees, so I’m looking forward to seeing the leaves change to their autumn hues.
  4. Fall Outfits 🧣
    • Still waiting on the weather to drop a few degrees because we’re still close to triple territory, but I’ve already started stocking up on some cute long-sleeve tops and sweaters.
  5. Halloween 🖤
    • I must say, I’m not as over the moon about Halloween as I am other holidays, but it’s one of my favorite traditions to carve pumpkins and watch those old school Disney Halloween movies (Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown, I’m ready for you).
  6. Thanksgiving 🦃
    • Though it’s going to look very different this year, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year because I love to focus on gratitude and ways to connect with the people around me.

Happy Fall Y’all! 🍁 Even though we’ll be spending most of indoors and making trips to the grocery store to bake all the pumpkin treats, I know it’ll still be a good one.
